Shawna and Rick | Wedding Photography | Chesterton and Valparaiso

Shawna and Rick were married a week ago today at St. Pat’s in Chesterton, then celebrated at Strongbow’s in Valpo. What a blast!

I absolutely adored this wedding! The blue and yellow were striking! Shawna’s dress was stunning! They also had the most adorable little flower girls, gloves and all. Check some details!

I think I’ll start going to all the bachelorette parties of my brides… it makes the photos with the ladies so much more fun! I felt like there were a zillion photos from which to choose when it came time to post in my blog. This is definitely my favorite, though. They look so truly happy!

The guys were also a riot! I posted the most appropriate of all their photos here. To see some real shockers, register for the gallery on pictage!

Here are a few more favorites.

Just look at these little girls watching the dancing at the reception.

SO CUTE! See what they are seeing… check out the slideshow!

About the music choice: Shawna and Rick’s first dance was Rascal Flats, but the last dance was Piano Man by Billy Joel. This is my second chance to watch this fantastic fraternity tradition, where everyone forms a circle around the bride and groom and sings along. Fantastic! It was so emotional!

Thank you Amy so much!!! You did an awesome job!!! I too love all of the pictures with the little girls! I think my favorite was of the little girls lying on the floor. I can’t wait to start ordering! I just can’t pick out which ones I want! I’m like a kid in a candy store! We need to hang out again soon!

This weekend was absolutely gorgeous outside. This is the weather for which we’ve all been waiting! I met Stephen and Meghan on the steps of the Field Museum. I could have sat on those steps all day long! It could not have been more incredible outside. Speaking of things that could not have turned out better… Stephen and Meghan, you two are like supermodels! Normally I delete so many photos because of closed eyes and weird faces, but you were pros. Born to smile at the camera!

Holly and Tyler | Wedding Photography | Peoria, Illinois

Saturday was a major adventure in Peoria! Holly and Tyler had an adorable morning ceremony at Faith Baptist Church followed by a gorgeous reception, with the most incredible menu ever, at The Cornerstone in stunning downtown Peoria.

I was so excited for this wedding for so many reasons. Not only was my first wedding of the 2009 season, but it was the first wedding I’ve attended since mine. I’ve been married more than a month and I a still all choked up about it! How awesome to watch two people come together and truly know how they feel.

I feel so connected with Holly after talking all these months. I truly could not wait to meet her. I’m so glad I did! Holly & Tyler– the two of you are truly blessed with amazing family and friends! It was such a pleasure to spend the day with all of them!

Here are a few of my favorites to hold everyone over until all of the photos and the slideshow are online. Don’t forget to register for Holly and Tyler’s gallery before I get the photos up, if you do, you get a $5 print credit!

Shawna & Rick | Engagement Photography | Downtown Michigan City, Indiana & Washington Park

Let me start this post by saying that Shawna and Rick are the best! What other couple wants to take a break in the middle of the session to eat at Roma’s? Only the best!

Usually I feel like my brides and grooms become my friends throughout the course of shooting their weddings, but in this case, the bride and groom became my friends throughout the course of shooting our mutual friends’ wedding!

We met the night that Nate and Jackie got engaged, after Shawna and Rick were already engaged. We hit the bar to celebrate, and met again a few weeks later, maybe even months later, during a party at Jackie and Nate’s house. Of course I talk about nothing but wedding photography everywhere I go, so when we got on the subject, I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to shoot both couples’ fantastic weddings!

Nate and Jackie’s wedding was a blast. I always love the double role of friend and photographer, though it often brings more tears. I knew after Matt, my husband, and I partied with Rick and Shawna all night that their wedding would probably just as amazing a time as Nate and Jackie’s! The engagement session proves us right thus far! Two weeks from now will be more evidence!

We did a classic Tour-de-Michigan City for Shawna and Rick’s session, which was a blast–a blast of cold air, and at some points, ice cold Lake Michigan water! Like I said a million paragraphs ago, however, we took a break halfway through and had some bomb calzones and pasta at Roma’s on Franklin and Greenwood, a definite best-kept secret of Michigan City. Not even temperatures in the mid-to-low thirties and intense winds could stop us from taking some adorable photos.

Creek Ridge Park is a favorite place of mine to do photos because the look changes so incredibly with the seasons, even week to week. There is always something gorgeous and new going on at the park and I always love it.

More amazing locations include alleys behind my favorite Mexican restaurant, El Nopal, and the classic Washington Park Beach!

Props to Rick for this shot, he planned the whole thing himself! You’re totally hired, Rick! Good lookin’ out!

Good for them, being able to kiss and love each other when sprays of icy water and millions of tiny sand particles are being whipped at them full force. In fact, we couldn’t make it all the way down to the lighthouse because the waves were literally crashing over the side of the walk!

You guys are invincible and adorable… I am so excited for your wedding!
