The Niemi Family { Indiana Family Portrait Photography } Bailly Homestead & Chelberg Farm, Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, Porter

I decided this year to take the holidays off, and took that family and friend time to a new level. I’ve always had a really difficult time, as lost of my friends who work from home, separating work time and home time. When your office is right in your house, it’s very easy to blend the two together, which is fine if you’re doing laundry while you’re editing, but becomes less fine when you’re blogging Christmas morning. I resolved this year to spend the entire Winter Break with my teacher husband, and it could not have been more incredible. We literally did nothing the entire time, and nothing could have been better. The day he returned to school, Monica from Monica Z. Photography and I hit the road to visit my brother in Tampa, who couldn’t come home for Christmas. Sure, I couldn’t resist answering new e-mails and fiddling with a little album design, but for the most part, I gave myself a well-deserved month off.

I’ve been back in full effect for about a week now, and I’m slowly catching up on a few blog posts that I’ve squirreled away. I figured I’d deserve a glimpse of autumn weather once the snowy ice got really depressing. It looks almost tropical, and these are from late November.

I was thrilled to do this session for my friends from LaLumiere, Rachel and Jeff. After being out of contact with Rachel for years, I came to find out she lived right in my own neighborhood! Reconnecting with them at this session was great, and I can’t wait to have the opportunity to actually hang out, no session necessary.
